Revival Promised for All Who Repent

Image of someone who repents and experiences a revival

In great words of hope, God promises revival for all of His covenant people who repent. Today’s Bible reading* is a brief mix of Hosea’s words in Hosea 6:1-3, followed by God’s judgment. Hosea again speaks in 9:17.

Hosea 6:1-3 are very hopeful words with an encouragement for the people to repent. God will mercifully revive and guide His people back to Himself. However, Hosea 9:17 paints a very bleak picture of God’s judgment on His people.

God’s judgment on His people is for their disobedience and leaving their first love to follow other nations and other gods. They have committed adultery and prostituted themselves against God. (Hosea 7:4, 9:1)

Application

God holds out hope for everyone who repents. Regardless of where you are in your walk with God, regardless of how far you may have strayed, regardless of how much you may have rejected God, so long as you are one of His, you have hope!

Please turn back from where you have strayed. Turn back from your following after your own pursuits. Re-read Hosea 6:1-3 and cry out to God for His mercy.

Come, let’s return to the LORD. For he has torn us, and he will heal us; he has wounded us, and he will bind up our wounds. He will revive us after two days, and on the third day he will raise us up so we can live in his presence. Let’s strive to know the LORD. His appearance is as sure as the dawn. He will come to us like the rain, like the spring showers that water the land.
