Today’s Bible reading* is the basis of the old Spiritual chronicling the reconnection of dry bones to form a mighty army. “The foot-bone connected to the ankle-bone. The ankle-bone connected to the leg-bone….”

God asked Ezekiel if the dry bones could live. Ezekiel answered that only God knew the answer to that question (Ezekiel 37:3)

God tells Ezekiel to prophesy to the dry bones. He says that He will put His breath in the dry bones and cause them to live and cause them to know that He is God. (Ezekiel 37:6) It’s the breath of God that caused the first man to come to life. (Genesis 2:7)

Application

A few years ago, Lauren Daigle recorded “Dry Bones”. In the chorus, she sings, “We call out to dry bones, ‘Come alive! Come alive!’ We call out to dead hearts, ‘Come alive! Come alive!’ Up out of the ashes, let us see an army rise! We call out to dry bones, ‘Come alive!’ “

How often do church people resemble a valley of dry bones? How many of our churches are full of people with dead hearts? How badly do we need to cry out for the dead churches to come alive? How badly do we need to cry out for the dead hearts to come alive?

Take a few minutes to watch the video of Lauren Daigle’s song below or click this link. And cry out for your own heart to come alive! Cry out for the hearts of Believers around you to come alive!
