Rejoicing in the Sovereignty of God

Text depicting "God is sovereign over all things"

We see in today’s Bible reading* another reminder of the sovereignty of God. And we see that His sovereignty isn’t just a truth to be acknowledged. It is a truth to be celebrated!

I—I am the LORD. Besides me, there is no Savior. I alone declared, saved, and proclaimed— and not some foreign god among you. So you are my witnesses”— this is the LORD’s declaration— “and I am God. Also, from today on I am he alone, and none can rescue from my power. I act, and who can reverse it?”
Isaiah 43:11–13 (CSB)

This is what the LORD, the King of Israel and its Redeemer, the LORD of Armies, says:
I am the first and I am the last.
There is no God but me.

Isaiah 44:6 (CSB)

For this is what the LORD says— the Creator of the heavens, the God who formed the earth and made it, the one who established it (he did not create it to be a wasteland, but formed it to be inhabited)— he says,
“I am the LORD, and there is no other.

Isaiah 45:18 (CSB)

God alone is God. There is no one like Him. He is supreme over all other “gods”. He alone is the creator of all that we can see, hear, touch, smell, taste, and feel. (as well as all of those created things we can’t!) He made it all and everything belongs to Him. The reality of the sovereignty of God should awaken the heart of all of God’s people to joyous, heartfelt worship!

Because there is no one like God, God invites His people,

Turn to me and be saved, all the ends of the earth. For I am God, and there is no other. By myself I have sworn; truth has gone from my mouth, a word that will not be revoked: Every knee will bow to me, every tongue will swear allegiance. It will be said about me, ‘Righteousness and strength are found only in the LORD.’ ” All who are enraged against him will come to him and be put to shame.
Isaiah 45:22–24 (CSB)

One day every knee will bow before Jesus and every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord to the glory of God the Father. (Isaiah 45:23; Philippians 2:9–11)

Have you come to faith in Jesus Christ? Are you bowing your knee before Him now? Are you confessing that Jesus Christ is Lord? Are you loving and worshiping Him with all that you are? (Deuteronomy 6:5; Matthew 22:37)
