God, the Creator and Sustainer

God is awesome! At the end of today’s Bible reading*, Elihu talks about God’s majesty. He even says that everyone has seen evidence of God. (Job 36:25) This is exactly what Paul says in Romans 1:20. Elihu recognizes that God is beyond mankind’s understanding. And he even talks about the water cycle! (Job 36:27–29)

All of this is designed by God. But not only did God design everything. He also sustains all of it. That’s why we are Theists. We believe that God continues to work in the world around us and in our lives. Deists, on the other hand, believe that God created everything, set things in motion, and then walked off; He isn’t involved in the everyday affairs of our lives.

As we read Elihu’s words, we should find ourselves praising the God Who is, Who was, and Who always will be. God revealed Himself to all mankind in General Revelation, which is the created world. But He revealed Himself more clearly in General Revelation, His Word.

Even though the book of Job is thousands of years old, it is still relevant. It spoke to its time and it continues to speak today.

Praise the Name of the Lord!
